【Awards and Commendations】The first place in the 26th Lake Biwa Clueless Solar Boat Competition

In the Advanced Technology Division of the 26th Lake Biwa Clueless Solar Boat Competition, a team consisting of graduate students from Department of Systems Innovation, Graduate School of Engineering and Department of Ocean Technology, Policy, and Environment, Graduate School of Frontier Sciences won the championship. The team designed and built a boat as project courses in both departments, practiced repeatedly in a towing tank and Lake Sagami, and joined the race as a team. The boat was able to show a stable cruise on August 27th and 28th and won the championship.

The 26th Lake Biwa Clueless Solar Boat Competition, Advanced Technology Category, Winner

A boat equipped with a solar panel and GPS is autonomously sailed on a round trip course of about 20 km between Sunny Beach in Makino Town and Chikubu Island in Lake Biwa. Points are given by passing checkpoints along the way. Ranking is determined by the sum of time and passing points.
