Particle Method

Particle method is a technology for computer simulation without the mesh at all. We have been developing the particle method and leading the world. The present research subjects are high accuracy methods, modeling of surface tension and wettability, analysis of mixing process etc. A venture company is established in the campus and the particle method is widely used in industries now.

Simulation for Humanity

To date, simulation technology is indispensable for high quality manufacturing. In addition, it is expected to apply to disaster prediction and medical application. In the lab, tsunami run-up simulation, swallowing simulation, simulation of mixing tanks, water entering simulation in rain are studied. The aim of these studies are "Simulation for Humanity". Many collaboration studies are carried out with companies.

Physics-based Computer Graphics

Realistic movies can be produced by visualize the simulation results using the advanced computer graphics. Combination of simulation and computer graphics is called "physics-based computer graphics", which has been used in movies and games; our technologies are used in a Japanese commercial movie "Umizaru 3". In the lab, we would like to expand physics-based computer graphics to disaster and medicine.
