駐日モナコ公国大使ご来校

2019年11月5日(火) パトリック・メドゥサン大使（駐日モナコ公国大使）および片柳ボナフェデ典子氏（モナコ公国公室 日本外交補佐）が、村山英晶教授*と和田良太講師**をご訪問され、本校のソーラーボートプロジェクトとモナコ・ソーラー＆エナジー・ボート・チャレンジについての情報交換を行いました。

システム創成学専攻と海洋技術環境学専攻には、村山教授が担当している「ソーラーボートプロジェクト」という演習授業があり、持続可能な低炭素社会を目指し、学生たちがソーラーボートを設計・製作し、毎年 “びわ湖クルーレス・ソーラーボート大会” に参加していています。そして、本年はこの大会で見事優勝することができました。

モナコ公国は、新しいエネルギー源の開発、2030年までに温室効果ガスの排出量を1990年の50％に減らし、2050年にはカーボンニュートラルとなることを目標として掲げており、「イノベーション」と「サスティナビリティ」を推進し、CO2削減や海洋保護にとても積極的な国です。

モナコ・ソーラー＆エナジー・ボート・チャレンジは、この「イノベーション」と「サスティナビリティ」を融合させた未来のエネルギー発展に貢献するすばらしいイベントです。学生も参加することができるイベントですので、近い将来、村山先生率いる東大チームがこの大会に出場し、世界に向けて、地球の温暖化対策としてのソーラーボートの可能性をアピールしてほしいと思います。

On 5th November 2019, Mr. Patrick MEDUSIN (Ambassador of Monaco to Japan) and Ms. Noriko KATAYANAGI (Japan diplomatic assistant, Prince's Palace of Monaco) visited Professor Hideaki MURAYAMA* and Lecturer Ryota WADA** and exchange information about our “Solar boat Project” and Monaco Solar & Energy Boat Challenge.

Department of Systems Innovation and Department of Ocean Technology, Policy and Environment has a collaborating lecture called “Solar Boat Project” which Professor Murayama in charge of. For a Sustainable Low-Carbon Society, in this lecture, students are aiming to design an original solar boat and participate in “Crewless Solar Boat Competition in Lake Biwa”.

 

Solar & Energy Boat Challenge, Monaco is a very active country for CO2 reduction and marine protection and they are passionate about “innovation” and “sustainability” with the goal of developing new energy sources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 50% of 1990 by 2030 and becoming carbon neutral by 2050.

 

The Solar & Energy Boat Challenge, Monaco is a wonderful event that combines innovation and sustainability Contributing to future energy development.

In the near future, we hope the University of Tokyo team led by Prof. Murayama will participate in this The Solar & Energy Boat Challenge, Monaco and appeal the potential of solar boats as a global warming countermeasure to people all over the world.
